For Father's Day this year, my youngest daughter wanted to make a special dessert for her daddy! He loves the fruit filling cakes with cool whip and frosting, so we decided to change it up a bit.
We started with the white cake mix, but instead of putting the filling in the cake, we left it for the layers. After it was baked and cooled, we cut it into small squares and started layering.
The frosting was one can of cherry frosting folded into a container of thawed whipped topping. It makes for a very light topping!
Needless to say, Dad loved his special dessert and I loved that we were able to use my gorgeous trifle dish!
